Who Operates the App
River People is operated by BentzTech LLC. You can contact us through the in-app Contact screen or by email at contact@bentztech.pro.
Account and Profile Data
We collect information needed to create and operate your account, including Apple or Google sign-in identifiers, email address when provided by the sign-in provider, display name, username, avatar, bio, home postal code and country, approximate home coordinates derived from that postal code, paddling preferences, interests, skills, vessels, organizations, crew connections, favorite rivers and sections, blocked users and organizations, and settings.
Location and Run Data
When you use maps, nearby search, hazard reporting, or run tracking, the app may access device location. If you start an active run, the app may collect GPS track points, distance, duration, speed, route, and related run details while the run is active, including while the app is backgrounded. You can stop tracking by ending the run and can disable run location tracking in Settings.
Apple Watch and Fitness Data
If you record a run with Apple Watch, the app may start a paddle workout, read active energy burned to estimate calories, and collect workout-related metrics such as duration, distance, speed, GPS track, route, and start and end times. We use this data to record, summarize, sync, and display your runs and related app features. We do not sell health or fitness data or use it for advertising.
Content and Communications
We collect content you submit, including run logs, notes, public commentary, photos, videos, media metadata, posts, comments, direct and group messages, event details, RSVPs, invites, organization profiles and claims, ratings, votes, hazard reports, injury reports, moderation reports, block actions, data-curation edits and audit records, and contact requests.
Device and Technical Data
We collect technical data needed to run and protect the service, including device tokens for push notifications, notification settings, authentication tokens, IP address, user agent, request metadata, offline sync metadata, cached data identifiers, and logs related to errors, abuse prevention, security, and service health.
How We Use Data
We use data to authenticate users, personalize nearby rivers and events, record runs, show maps and media, deliver messages and push notifications, support offline use, manage organizations and events, evaluate community ratings and hazards, respond to support requests, apply blocking and visibility controls, maintain curation audit history, moderate content, prevent abuse, secure the service, debug problems, and comply with legal obligations.
Sharing and Visibility
Your content may be visible to other users based on the feature and privacy setting you choose, such as public, crew-only, private, event invitees, conversation members, organization managers, or app moderators. Block settings can reduce visibility and interactions, but they are not a complete privacy control for public or previously shared content. Some safety-related content, such as hazard reports, may be shown publicly or to affected users. We do not sell personal or sensitive user data, including health or fitness data.
Service Providers and Third Parties
We use service providers and third-party platforms to operate the app, including app hosting, database storage, email delivery, Apple and Google sign-in, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Apple Push Notification service, Apple Health and HealthKit, map tiles, geocoding, weather, gauge, release, and calendar data providers. These providers may process data as needed to provide their services.
Retention and Deletion
We keep account, content, and technical data while your account is active or as needed to provide the app, maintain records, moderate safety or abuse issues, preserve curation audit history, comply with law, resolve disputes, and protect the service. You may delete your account in the app at Profile > Settings > Delete Account, or request account or data deletion by emailing contact@bentztech.pro. Some records may be retained, anonymized, or separated from your account where needed for safety, security, legal, backup, curation, or moderation reasons. Backup, legal, security, and operational records may persist for up to 90 days.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data. No internet, mobile, or cloud service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
Children
The app is intended for general paddling users and is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account or submit personal information if you are under 13.
Policy Updates
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date shows when this policy was last updated.
